Our school clinics are here to support the health and well-being of every student in the Northeastern Local School District, and our school nurses play an important role in caring for students across all grade levels. The clinics provide support and care for everyday student health needs, medication management, screenings, and health guidance. Our nurses work closely with families and staff to keep students healthy, safe, and learning at their best.

🌟 Healthful Hints from Your School Nurse

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! Our school nurses are here to help your child stay healthy, safe, and ready to learn. Here are a few quick reminders for a great start:

🧾 Emergency Contacts

  • Please make sure at least two emergency contacts are updated in FinalForms so we can reach you quickly if needed.

πŸ’Š Medications at School

  • A Student Medication Form (signed by a doctor) is required for prescription and most over-the-counter medications.
  • Medications must come to school in the original container and be dropped off by a parent/guardian.

πŸ€’ When to Stay Home

Keep your child home if they have:

  • Fever of 100°F or higher
  • Vomiting or diarrhea in the past 24 hours
  • Pink eye (conjunctivitis) or other contagious symptoms
  • Students should be symptom-free for 24 hours without medication before returning.

🧒 Head Lice

  • Students must be free of live lice before coming back.
  • Head lice can be a nuisance, but they do not spread disease. Weekly checks at home are encouraged.

πŸ‘• Extra Clothes

  • Accidents happen! Please consider keeping an extra set of clothes in your child’s locker or book bag.

πŸ‘€πŸ‘‚ Vision & Hearing Screenings

Each year, students in certain grades take part in state-required vision and hearing screenings at school. These screenings help us catch concerns early so students can succeed in the classroom.

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) sets the guidelines for:

  • Which grade levels are screened
  • What equipment is used
  • Which tests are performed

πŸ‘‰ If you do not want your child to participate, please contact your school nurse.

β€οΈπŸ’›πŸ€ŽThank you for partnering with us to keep our students healthy and learning. We’re looking forward to a wonderful school year together!
